Captain Emmanuel Ihenacho has described himself as the pivot and issue of the 2015 Imo Governorship election, following the interest majority of Imolites have shown in his decision to join the race for Douglas House come 2015.
Speaking in Owerri, the Emekuku Owerri North LGA born Sailor, disclosed that because of his sterling qualities and pedigree, his name has continued to hit the news because every interested party in the race see him as the strongest force that must be dismantled for them to have a free-way to the seat.
He maintained that he fears no foe as far as the 2015 Imo guber was concerned, provided there would be a level playing ground for all participants, pointing out that Imo people should be allowed to choose their Leaders, right from the party primaries.
Ihenacho who reaffirmed his total commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP maintained that all things being equal, there is no way he will not emerge victorious in the PDP primaries, adding that what should be encouraged in Imo PDP is for all interested contestants to show-case their programmes and capability to deliver the goods, pointing out that what happened in Anambra State was a good example where Chief Nwoye, the PDP candidate in that state’s guber election, emerged through popular votes at the primary level.
He said it was fallacy that he could work against the PDP, saying that he had sunk a lot into building PDP and therefore cannot destroy a house he helped in constructing.
Ihenacho hinted that he was not scared of facing the incumbent Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha in the main election, pointing that what Imo people want at this time is that person who can improve their lots, adding that Imo people have measured Okorocha’s output, and definitely would want a new person in 2015, which he represents, and promised to do 100% better than Okorocha.
He however stated that if Okorocha is a man of honour, he would not run in 2015, following what he told Imo people while campaigning in 2011, together with a written agreement he wrote by himself and signed, admitting he will only run for a single term.
Ihenacho who said he will revolutionatize Imo State economy within one year if given the opportunity in 2015, averred that his ambition was borne out of service to Imo people, and therefore bent on pursuing the 2015 Imo Governorship project to a conclusive end.
The Business mogul said that Owerri Zone has helped in supporting other zones in the state to produce Governors, stressing that it behooves on the other zones to rally support for Owerri in 2015 to produce Imo Governor.
While admitting that it was proper for Owerri sons and daughters to join the race, he however expressed optimism that in the end they will arrive at a compromise in order not to jeopardize the chances of Owerri Zone from producing Imo State Governor in 2015, by polarizing the race.
