History was made at the weekend in Owerri the Imo State capital during an event of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners held at Imo Concorde Hotel.
At the event attended by the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, the governor of Kano State, His Excellency, Rabiu Kwankwaso and the Deputy Speaker, Federal House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, believed to be interested in Imo Govt House received the acclaim of the governor of Imo State, Owelle Okorocha for the number one position in the state.
While chronicling the rise of the August visitor to Imo State and a recipient of Nigerian Institute of Town Planners Award, His Excellency Rabiu Kwankwaso, the Deputy speaker noted that the Kano State political leader and a member of the G7 governors was a former Deputy speaker of the House of Representatives from where God transported and elevated him to be an executive governor. Rt Hon. Emeka Ihedioha urged the governor of Imo State to also ensure that he, the present Deputy Speaker follows the footsteps of Gov. Kwankwaso by taking over from Gov. Rochas come 2015.
To the admiration of the entire Imolites and visitors from across the nation, the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Anayo Rochas Okorocha nodded in affirmation with an acclaimed applause.
Before living the venue of the event, Chief Emeka Ihedioha thanked members of Nigerian Institute of Town Planners headed by their president, Chief Steve Onu for their contributions to national development. He asked Nigerians to support the transformation Agenda of Mr. President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. He added that the numerous dividends of democracy ranging from road project, human capacity development, Electrification projects and other infrastructural projects which he has brought to Imo are rooted in his resolve to better the lives of Imolites and take the State to an enviable height.
He called on Imo people to support him to ensure that practical and visible progress is brought back in the State.
Earlier, the Deputy Speaker had visited Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA where he received the entire leadership of APC in Ezinihtte LGA, Ward and Village executive of APC, APGA, PPA and other of the merger parties back to PDP.
In an event that could best be described as a political earthquake against opposition, Nze Celestine Ihuoma and a clearing and forwarding giant Chief Chibuzor Enwereuzo, aka Ogbaturu Enyi, leading about 2000 of their supporters from APGA, APP and APC PDP in solidarity to Rt Hon. Emeka Ihedioha who they described as a humble and people oriented legislator who has always provided exemplary leadership in Nigeria and Imo State. They pledged to work for his success as the next Governor of Imo State in 2015.
In his comment while receiving the decampees, Chief Duruihuoma (SAN) commended their wisdom and vision noting that PDP is a home for all urging them to be dedicated assuring that come 2015 the people Democratic Party will take back power in Imo State. The party Chairman commended Chief Ihedioha as a great son of Imo who has done Ndi Igbo proud. He expressed confidence that the achievements of the Deputy speaker will surely help the party to recapture power in Imo come 2015.
