The recent appointment of ward councilors in the Transition committee members in the 305 wards of Imo State by the executive governor, Chief Rochas Anayo Okorocha has been berated by the former sole administrator (Solad) Oru East LGA, a one time senior special assistant political mobilization to former governor Chief Ikedi Ohakim, Hon Ferdinand Uzodimma.
Speaking to Journalists at Omuma Oru East on the appointment over the weekend, Hon Uzodimma challenged the governor, Okorocha that what he did was unconstitutional, stating that the Nigerian constitution never gave any state Chief Executive the power to appoint councilors and that the constitution only empowers governors to appoint five man caretaker committee for local government area prior to election.
Reacting on the adoption of his brother Senator Hope Uzodimma to ran for second term for Orlu senatorial seat by Orlu political stakeholders. Hon Uzodimma disclosed that the senator is not keen on going back but the family is persuading him to heed to the yarning of the constituents to recontest.
He maintained that the senator has really done well for the zone economically and politically and for the fact that the people appreciated him by scoring him high and asked him to continue the good work/representation. The former Solad submitted that it will be unfair for Senator Hope to turn the wish of the people down “that is why we are persuading him to accept the challenges and recontest” Hon Uzodimma said.
