Barely a week to the Supreme Court judgment over the legality or otherwise of the Supplementary Election of May 6, 2011 that ushered in Owelle Rochas Okorocha, the camp of the Imo State Governor is jittery and wallowing in fear of the unknown.
Strong indications that uneasy calm is pervading Okorocha’s political family began a fortnight ago when the state number one citizen requested traditional rulers in the state to pray for him over the forthcoming Supreme Court case involving him and those challenging the eligibility of the election that brought him into power.
Further signs that all is not well in the camp of the Governor emerged at the weekend when Okorocha’s Media Team began to cry wolf and resorted to cheap blackmail to attract petty sentiments, as one of the national Dailies (names withheld) revealed APCs allegation of plot to remove Okorocha.
One Chief Ejikeme Ogbuagu whose true identity was still hazy but claimed to be only a stalwart of APC allged that the Presidency has perfected plan to use the coming Supreme Court ruling on the state governorship election to sack the governor.
Sources in Government House, Owerri, disclosed that the State Governor and some of his lieutenants appear apprehensive over the court matter hence the resort to cheap blackmail and propaganda aimed at not only misinforming the public but also adopting measures to whip up sentiments against those handling the case and the Federal Government.
It was learnt that part of the adopted strategies by Okorocha is to use fictitious names like that of unknown Ejikeme Ogbuagu to raise unfounded publications targeted at attacking the Presidency and the Supreme Court.
Another tactics that is also in the kitty of the Okorocha team is to raise unnecessary false alarms and cheap blackmail against perceived opponents.
The source further indicated that arrangements for the serial blackmail and “cry of wolf” have been serialized to various Media Houses and would be released promptly for side effects. Also several personalities from opposing parties would also suffer attacks from the Okorocha’s camp in the process of executing the orchestrated blackmail in the build up to the Supreme Court verdict next week.
