Student Union Government (SUG) of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede had their SUG Elections on Wednesday 9th September 2013 inside the school premises.
The election which started at the early hours of Wednesday morning, went accordingly with out hitch as the school’s SUG transited from caretaking committee to properly elected excos . The dutiable students of the institution did not allow the ASUP strike to be a hindrance to the voting as the students came out in mass to vote for their right candidates, because according to them they wanted good leaders who will lead them into a new era of students administration.
After the commencements of the votes and the announcement of the result, Djanero Emmanuel a Cooperative Management student emerged the new SUG president whilst Sarah Dike a Business Administration Management Student emerged as the V.P.
In a brief interaction with campus gists, the students expressed their utmost happiness for a successful election which was held in the polytechnic, after the riot which led to the distraction of school properties and building.
The students congratulated the Rector Mrs Celestine Njoku for not only creating a conducive/enabling environment for the election to take place, but also her genuine love, support and encouragement to the union.
Concluding their speech, they begged the Federal Government to look into the problems of their roads, as it has always been one of their greatest problem.
