The Imo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chapter Chairman Eze Duruiheoma (SAN) has condemned in strong terms the incessant attacks on the party by Gov. Rochas Okorocha of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and his associates. He warned Gov. Okorocha and his allies to desist from such mischievous propaganda because Ndi Imo are not “fools” for Okorocha to say all the years of PDP in Imo was a waste.
He explained that PDP did very well during years in Imo Government House. He went further to itemize some of the landmark project initiate by the party both completed and that of Achike Udenwa whom he noted washed Imo clean from the dent of military dictatorship “it is no secret that Udenwa met not more than five (5) serviceable official vehicles in the government and he started by tokumbo vehicle for official use” Duruiheoma revealed.
The Chairman wondered how a sane person in his/her right senses could berate the road networks around the State such as the State Secretariat, the improved health system, education system and security put in place by Udenwa Administration with meager resources.
In the case of former Ikedi Ohakim, Duruiheoma maintained that Ohakim was a PDP governor for two years and performed wonders:
“Ikedi is a man highly misunderstood; he tries as much as possible to translate his ideas into realities, that is why Owerri became a delight to live in during his days”.
He listed some of Ohakim’s landmark achievements to include; Owerri by pass (ring road & flyovers) road dualization, Youth employment (10,000 jobs), new government House, to mention but a few.
However, the party Chairman challenged governor Rochas Okorocha, his associates and rest of Ndi Imo to constructively compare and contrast, the projects, policies and governance ethics of the APGA led government against that of the PDP led government and say without fear or favour, which is a more people – oriented, and constitutional.
