WOMEN PROTEST OVER INCESANT KIDNAPPINGS.

The people of Ahiazu Mbaise woke up to the unexpected protest chants from all the women of Umuofor on Thursday in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area on Thursday the 12th of July 2012.

When our correspondent tried to enquire the reasons for the war chants especially from aged mothers who were supposed to be either in their farm yards or market places. It was revealed that the chants were for the perpetrators of the kidnap of one Alexander Ohaji, an indigene of Umuofor Amuzi who is a taxi driver in Eke Ahiara Park.

Speaking to Imo Trumpeta one of the taxi drivers who is a bossom friend of the kidnapped victim who didn’t want his name disclosed said that Alex as he is fondly called was last seen on Monday 9th July while he was negotiating with a certain young fair in complexion man within the age bracket of 23 – 25 years at about 9am in the morning.

He continued by saying that when it was 1pm in the afternoon same day, he called his number to find out his where about but no one was picking the phone, “I later called  about three more times and the phone was finally switched off completely.

Later that night, his wife and children came to my house around 10pm to report that their loving husband and father had not returned from the journey he went for since 9 am in the morning.

In the morning being Tuesday the 10th of July, I found the wife with other well – wishers to search the hospitals and police stations all to no avail before making a formal report at the Ahiazu police station.

Also speaking madam Jercy one of the women protesting did reveal that just last week Tuesday an aged woman was also abducted from our village for 3 days before she was released without ransom, up till now, no one knows who and how the woman got released.

However, there is an un – confirmed statement that an order did come from Abuja demanding that the woman be released other wise the traditional rulers in the LGA be relieved of their duties.

The women generally are now calling on the abductors of Alex to set him free to return back to family and friends.

They are also calling on the security chiefs of the LGA and the state to please come to their aid as the lives of every indigene of Amuzi community is no longer safe.
