n a move aimed at propelling the wheels of the Rescue Mission administration for the next two years, Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, yesterday unveiled his new commissioners.
He retained seven commissioners which he sent packing when he dissolved his state exco three months ago.
Among those retained include; Deacon Chike Okafor, Barr (Mrs) Ugochi Nnanna Okoro, Jerry Okoli, Kenneth Emelu, Ichie Uche Best Mbanaso, Dr. Ifeanyi Nwachukwu, Chief Uche Nwosu and Nick Oparandudu.
The new commissioner nominees include Charles Uchechukwu Osondu, Prof Uba Nnabue and Prof Okey Okoro.
The list is expected to be forwarded to the Imo State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
Governor Okorocha had previously sent a list of nominees to Imo Lawmakers, which the state legislature rejected. The Governor had told Imolites that he will constitute a cabinet to be made up of non-Imolites from various parts of the country, a pronouncement which attracted widespread condemnation and disapproval.
Trumpeta had exclusively reported last week that the Imo State Governor is set to constitute “an election cabinet” that will be made up of old guards that are familiar with the style and pattern of the Rescue Mission administration.
It was also unclear why Okorocha reneged on his promise not to appoint APC stalwarts, including loyalists from his new found political ally and former Governor of Imo State, Chief Achike Udenwa.
Okorocha and Udenwa had agreed to close ranks in the new party, but the absence of a strong ally of the ex governor in the newly constituted cabinet raises concerns if the duo are now truly political Romeo and Juliet.
