Ethiopia Announce Squad For Nigeria Game
Ethiopia have announced their squad to face Nigerian Super Eagles in this coming Weekends tie as they attempt to qualify for their first Fifa World Cup finals.
The Walya Antelopes gaffer has announced his 22-man squad that will tackle the Super Eagles in Sunday’s 2014 World Cup qualifier in Addis Ababa
Coach Sewnet Bishaw of Ethiopia has named his 22-man squad that will confront the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Sunday’s first leg play-off qualifying game of the 2014 World Cup.
The East Africans will be hoping to pull an upset against the reigning African champions when both sides clash in their first match of a two-legged play-off to qualify for Brazil.

Missing in their squad is top striker Saladin Said who picked up an injury during the weekend.
The match billed for 2pm Nigerian time will see the Eagles take on Ethiopia for the second time this year after beating them two nil at the Afcon in South African early in January.

Ministry Of Sports Parm Sec Visits Dan Anyiam Stadium
…Commends Athletes for Showing Patriotism
Friday October, 4 will ever remain memorable in the mind of the entire Staff of the Imo Sports Council as they welcomed the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr G S Nwosu since his appointment.
In her welcome address, Mrs Chizotam Aretola, the Acting Director of Sports thanked God for making the visit a possibility especially after the recent accident he was involved in praying for his recovery to the fullest in the shortest time possible.
She then recounted the Edith that established the Sports Council after the creation of Imo State with 27 Local Government Areas and 5 sporting zones were sports secretaries are posted for the purpose of organizing and developing sports at the grass root areas adding that the council takes part in about 28 games during national and continental competitions including Ball, Floor, Racket, Intellect and Target games.
The former National Volleyball Captain happed on the need to officially engage active athletes in other not to lose them to other States adding that the last time the Council carried out an employment exercise was in 2004 and that it has a Staff strength of 345 which according to her is not actually enough as a performing establishment.
Reacting, the Permanent Secretary, Nwosu expressed his happiness for God’s grace and mercy over his life recounting that the last time he visited the stadium, he was in clutches during the Olympic day run and that by his grace he is getting better and better while referring to sports as an important and vital mercenary adding that Gov Okorocha is trying to put one or two structures to give the arena a face lift for the first time.
He then commended the Imo athletes for always winning laurels in all competitions describing them as patriotic citizens while promising that he will recommend to the government on the need to recognize medal winners especially the victorious hockey team that just returned from Port Harcourt with the ticket to represent Nigeria at the African Club Championship.
Mr Nwosu also promised to report accordingly all the areas he visited that need attention, especially those facilities that are in bad shape to help boost the efforts of our athletes during training while maintaining that the Governor is still kin on accomplishing the 3 Stadia in the three geo-political zones calling on the council staff to always abide by the dressing code as well as observe the 10 minutes prayer time every day.
On the Parm Sec’s entourage were, Barr Ubochi (Dir Admin/Finance), Mr Emmanuel Onyeka (Dir Youths), Mr Ihesiaba (Dir Sports), Mr Eke I I (Dir Accts), Mrs Nwaihim Juliet (HOD Procurement), Mr Uwa Nkwocha (Dir PR&Stat) and Rose collet Azubuike (PRO) while on the council side were Mrs Ngozi Anyanwu (Ag Admin) and many other senior staff.

Imo Athletes Set To Clinch Sole
Ticket For National Youth Games
All is set for a successful outing of the Imo State young athletes at the zonal elimination competition of the National Youth Games in Umuahia this October.
Trumpeta, gathered recently that the State athletes will be involved in the zonal championship that will commence from October 28 till November 1 as they will compete in ball games were only one State will qualify for games proper in Abuja later in the year.
The Ag Director of Sports in Imo Sports Council, Mrs Chizotam Agboma Aretola while briefing the Sports Permanent Secretary, Mr G S Nwosu during his inspection visit to the council promised that her wards are set to do the State proud as they have been training hard for the up-coming talent hunt and youth development program designed to help discover future athletes.
She however happed on the need for development and maintenance of sporting facilities to enable the athletes have the best atmosphere of training which will help them be in the right psych during competitions pointing out that Imo athletes have always proven their worth during competitions and that if given the best conditions the sky will be their limit.
Aretola also recounted the exploits of the Heartland Flickers who recently emerged victorious in the just concluded National Club Hockey Championship in Port Harcourt winning the Female trophy and qualifying to represent Nigeria at the African Club Hockey Championship later in December.
She described the girls as worthy ambassadors noting that they have been 6 times African champions and are ready the make the seven time but called on the Government to help the team by providing funds on time to enable them prepare adequately.
