Obiriukwu Owere Inaugurated, Says It Is Clearing House for Aspirants In Owerri Zone

A group known as Obiriuku Owere has declared that it is a clearing house for all public office seekers from Owerri Zone.
It also maintained that it has no political affinity to any political party, insisting that it is committed to increase the democratic space in the zone
Speaking to newsmen at the end of its maiden meeting, a leader of the group and former Mayor of Owerri Zone, High Chief Uche Njoku, said the group wants the best for the people of Owerri zone, adding that it will resist acts of imposition of candidates which has been prevalent in the past dispensation.
He said the group is embarking on a revolution that will oppose and resist such acts by any political party on the people of Owerri zone.
He said gone are the days where someone sits in the comfort of his home to dictate who governs the people.
In his contribution, Nze Ben T.C.K Osuji, said Obiriukwu Owere has come to stay, adding that it is a body that will uplift and ensure the political emancipation of the people of Owerri zone.
He said the group will select and adopt credible candidates from the zone for various positions, a measure he said will ensure only those responsible and accountable to the people are elected into office.
He identified the inability of the people of Owerri zone to come together as a major hindrance to their political advancement in the past, stressing that the group has come to harness the latent potentials of the people of the zone.
He stated that the group is on the verge of expansion, as efforts are in top gear to ensure it spread its membership tentacles to other local governments in Owerri zone.
The group is led by the Mayor Of Owerri Zone, Chief Gibson Achonwa Njemanze (Oyiga) for Owerri west, Nze Ben Osuji (Owerri Municipal) and High Chief Uche Njoku for Owerri North
Among those who attended the inaugural meeting include member representing Owerri North in the Imo House of Assembly, Hon Dan Ikpeazu, former Owerri municipal council chairmen, S.B Chikwe, Hon Gladys Amuneke and others.
