The YSFON organized Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu’s Under 14 male soccer championship would soon be kicking off at Abakiliki, Ebonyi State some time this year.
Speaking to Imo Trumpeta the south East president of YSFON and also the chairman of the local organizing committee Mr Ndubuisi Opara said that this years competition is promising to be exciting and very interesting due to the viable and colourful environment as well as the adventurous nature of the host city.
He further expressed his gratitude to the Anambra State Governor Mr Peter Obi and the commissioner for youths and Sports Hon Lady Chinasa C Anowai for their thoughtfulness and for taking up the sponsorship during the last edition at Nnewi.
It would be recalled that the last edition of the Dim Ojukwu’s U – 14 male football championship was hosted and sponsored by the Amambra state government at the Gabros stadium Nnewi.
In that edition Enugu state won the competition by beating Abia state in the final game with a 2 – 0 score line.
Opara opined that the championship is designed to be a yearly event in other to boost the careers of the our youths that are striving to be great and useful in life as that is what YSFON stands for, the good of the Nigerian youths.
The states that are involved in the championship are Anambra, Abia, Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu and Rivers state.
Feelers reaching our sports desk also indicates that the tournament may as well be co – hosted by Enugu and Ebonyi if the Logistic networks are properly co – ordinated.
The competition usually comes up around November and December to enable the young players be free from their academic works.
