This Country Has No Arrival, Sorry No Rival (1)

reflection

When I first heard this grammar spoken by someone whom I suppose was well educated, I thought he made a mistake. In actual fact he meant to say that the country excels in what ever she gets involved in or whatever gets involved with her. Which ever way it is looked at they are both correct and applicable.
This is one country where both leadership and citizenry tell themselves lies and relish it. From the apex leadership to the lowest level of followership lies flourish. From their policies to their defense, from their education to agriculture and from youth development to sports management lies abound.
There is no area that is of greater concern than the other. The worst however seem to be the political leadership which has given rise to a rotten followership.
Recently, some governors took it upon themselves to criz-cross the country for political consultation. In such situation one would expect that the interest of the peace and stability of the country was the motivating factor. Later events have come to prove that those who say that deception is an instrument of warfare are correct. People talk with both sides of the mouth that you would think that they mean well.
It has often been said that democracy entails separation of powers and that of the (3) three arms of government, the judiciary is the last hope for fairness, equity and justice. Before you run to this conclusion as I often did, take a critical look at some cases in the courts and from a lay man view, see if they are helping or compounding the problem. Let me stop here for fear of the accusation of contempt. But a lot need to be done with our justice system whether criminal or civil.
After all, is the problem in the Nigerian governors forum not caused by their excellence. The governors? No one wants to tell the truth and in a dispute where there is a strong division of contrasting opinions, all claim to be correct and forthright. Why did Boko Haram become and has remained what it is if not the connivance of those senior stakeholders and their cohorts and because Goodluck Jonathan has not been hoodwinked into granting amnesty terrorist has become branded a religiously biased leader.
Our insincerity level has no rival anywhere in the world and with it we shall arrive at nowhere.
An ex-militant once said that it was the police that thought them the art of kidnap and ransom. For according to him when an innocent man in his house or business, is picked up by the law agents held hostages for some days, only to be released when his people paid some money, what do you call that. To the police it is arrest and detention. To the militant it is kidnap and held hostage. To the police it is bail out but to the militant it is ransom. After all in the school we were taught that one man’s meet is another man’s poison. Invariably one one’s freedom fighter is another man’s terrorist. They all boil down to the dramatic fact that there is no difference in the condition of a man in detention and another held hostage.
How can one imagine that all party primaries and congresses now produce two results and the courts take sides since after party supremacy was rubbished? By the way did the court seek the opinion of INEC whose official function it is to monitor and supervise all election before arriving at verdicts? See you later.
