That Legalization Of Abortion By Imo Government

When the news of the legalization of abortion by Imo State Government was broken last week by this Newspaper, it elicited a lot of reactions from Imo people and indeed many Nigerians who felt highly disappointed by the action.
Apparently, some die-hard “naïve” supporters of Governor Okorocha’s regime went to town trying to debunk the news as false and blackmail.
But as usual, Trumpeta Newspaper was published the controversial 2012 Law No 12 of the State House of Assembly in its Tuesday August 27, 2013 edition on page 9 where Governor Okorocha personally appended his signature to the Law.
This Newspaper has equally unveiled a further step by the Governor Okorocha’s administration to surreptiously drag the people of the state into the dreaded ovarian egg and human trafficking with Indians.
According to Dr. Phillip Njemanze, Chairman, Catholic Doctors Association, Imo State, this is the reason why the administration embarked on the construction of twenty seven new hospitals across the twenty seven local governments in the state which ultimately will serve as conduit wire to this obnoxious practice.
This has been so because of the secret engagement of a banned Indian hospital “Apollo hospital” with the incumbent government to manage these hospitals on their completion.
If not for this unacceptable deal with Apollo, why come that a sensitive Government could abandon the renovation and equipment of dilapidated hospitals across the state for new ones?
The reason is very clear. The former hospitals are owned by either the missions/churches or communities who by such involvement are shareholders and board members of the hospitals.
So, what the state government intend doing is erecting entirely new ones where the entire management and running will be hers without any outside interference as to probe into its operations.
But the annoying aspect of the entire episode is the continued open denial by both the Imo State House of Assembly and Governor Okorocha that they have not legalized abortion in the state.
They have to be informed that the days are gone when the sensibility of Imo people is taken or for granted.

Again, Speaker Uwajumogu and his colleagues as well as Governor Okorocha should cover their face in shame for thinking that Imo people are not informed enough to understand what is good or bad for them.
If the honourable members of the House of Assembly did not understand the Law they passed since 2012, they should hide their faces in shame and see themselves as dishonourable members.
It is instructive to remind Okorocha if he has forgotten, that the allegation that former Governor Ohakim slapped a Catholic Priest was instrumental to his losing the 2011 Governorship election.
The days of reckoning are fast coming because Imo people are not naïve. The record of the legalization of abortion is there, the record of poor quality of jobs has been written, the record of lawlessness is seen, the record of poverty in the land is felt as well as so many others.
Repealing the abortion law is not only necessary but the only and immediate option left for Speaker Uwajumogu and his colleagues because a stitch in time saves nine.

That PDP Mobilization Rally At Ezinihitte, Ngor-Okpala

I want to use this medium to inform the general public that the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) is bouncing back again in Imo state through its mobilization rally in all the 27 local government in the state after it had a political accident in 2011 general elections where the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) gubernatorial candidate, Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha, wrestled power from it.
The mandate the Imo people gave APGA was based on the people’s decision to strike a balance between then Governor Ikedi Ohakim and ascertain who is the best among the two vibrant political gladiators Imo state had. The devil one knows seems to be more better than the one who walks in the thick darkness. The sign is simply clear.
PDP as the foremost opposition political party in Imo state has decided not to rest on its oars and see how Imo state is transformed into a family affair and being run as a closet business. Let us here understand and be reminded that constructive criticism and opposition are the soul and beauty of representative government. Hence other opposition parties should rise to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the state and all citizens.
For this singular but serious reason the state PDP has re-enforced its formidable structure and solid measure as it had started mobilizing people to see reasons to join and support the party to be able to wrestle power from the ruling party, All Progress Congress (APC).
The recent mobilization/sensitization rally held at Ngor-Okapala and Ezinihitte Mbaise LGAs had a massive turn out. The mammoth crowd that graced the mobilization committee led by Chief Jerry Chukwueke who with his gift of oratory conscientised the crowd on the positive need to support PDP to win future elections in order to ensure jobs for the youth, women empowerment as more dividends of democracy will be enhanced as joy and human day in Nigeria.
The familiarization rally at two LGAs were informative, as new members and those who decamped from the party were accepted and welcome as they pledged their loyalty to the party in all ramifications.
It is also on record that PDP is the party whose objective is clearly mapped out. Thus, according to Chief Jerry Chukwueke, President Goodluck Jonathan through his people oriented government is able to begin the second Niger Bridge, Oweri/Port Harcourt road, Oweri Onitsha road, Port Harcourt/Enugu road and others too numerous to mention.
