Avu Community Revives Tradition, Honours Indigene

Dr Raymond Opara has bagged Avu Community “Philanthropist per Excellence” award. The award on Engineer Opara is recognition of his philanthropy and contribution towards human empowerment and the development of Avu community.
Conferring the award on Dr Raymond Opara, at on her Iriji festival, the former Chairman of Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ) Imo state chapter, Dr Fidel Onyeneke who was the Chairman of the Iriji Avu, said the honour is well deserved as the awardee has distinguished himself in the work of humanity and communal uplift.
Engineer Raymond Opara after receiving the award expressed joy. He promised to do more to merit more awards in the future. He also thanked God for His love on him, family and friends.
The philanthropist thanked Avu people for rekindling their Iriji cultural and traditional which has been in comatose for ages and advised Ndi-Igbo not to throw away their culture and tradition. He frowned on the attitude of some Igbo children who do not speak Igbo language.
