Against doubts at some quarters that there was no charter of equity in the zoning of Governorship position in Imo, a frontline Governorship aspirant and one time Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in the State and Senator who represented Okigwe Zone, Chief Sylvester Anyanwu has made it clear that he was party to the agreement.
In a chart with media executives in Owerri, Senator Anyanwu said that though Governor Okorocha’s emergence in 2011 was a dislocation of the arrangement, Owerri Zone should allow Okigwe to complete its tenure.
He explained that both Owerri and Okigwe Zones the right to claim the 2015 tenure, but that it should have been morally right for Owerri Zone to support Okigwe to conclude its mandate.
Anyanwu maintained that the 2015 anticipated Governor of the state should be somebody with proven track record of performance and achievements. Above all, Senator Anyanwu is of the view that the person must show enough knowledge and experience on how to develop the battered economy.
According to the Governorship aspirant, the only way to guarantee the survival of the people of Imo State is by developing the economy which will in turn make the people more productive and self reliant.
He lashed at past administrations in the state for their failure to put the development of the state’s capacities at the front burner of their administrations. Pointing out that there are a lot of local resources in the state including abundant man power to develop and stabilize the economy.
