Cup Debuts in Okigwe-south

…Doles out 1.1million Naira Sports Kits to Teams

Citizens of Okigwe-South Federal Constituency will this Sunday September 1, at Okenalowo Secodary School field witness the kick-off of Chief Emma Okewuluonu’s Football Competition as teams from Obowo,Ihitte Uboma and Ehime Mbani LGA’s will be competing among themselves for various prizes and trophies.
The Ikeoha of Obowo who is notable for his philanthropic gestures has added another feather to his cap with the football competition which goes a long way in buttressing his attributes and commitment to youth development.
The competition which is coming under his numerous Ikeoha Foundation Program that has over the years positioned the Avutu-Obowo born Citizen as the man of the people.
According to the coordinator of the championship, Hon. Basil Okewuluonu, younger brother to the donor, the competition aim is to help discover and explore soccer skills and hidden talents within these localities adding that about 31 teams drawn from Obowo, Ihitte Uboma and Ehime Mbano LGA’s will participate in championship.
He further stated that teams the teams will first compete among themselves in their LGA’s befor qualifying for the final rounds at various centers designated by the Local Organizing Committee.
Hon. Basil then noted that kits worth N1.1million were on Thursday August 29, handed over to the participating teams as each club received footballs, First-Aid boxes, Jersey’s and other materials, while goalpost nets were also distributed to the various centers were the zonal group games will take place.
Prizes will also be given to outstanding players for the Most Valuable Player (MVP), Best Goalkeeper, Fair Play Award to the most discipline team and many more while Okenanlowo will take on Amuzi in the first game on Sunday.
The Zonal games are as follows:
Obow LGA: Umuania vs Umungwa/Amanze., Okenanlowo vs Amuzi., Alike vs Avutu., Ehume vs Umunachi and Okwuohia vs Odenkume/Umuosochie.
Ehime Mbano LGA: Umueze 1 vs Agbaja., Umueze 11/Umueleke vs Umukabia., Umualumaku/Umuhim vs Nzeremikpem., Umuezeala vs Umunumo and Umunakanu vs Ihittensu.

The State Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere who stormed Dan Anyiam Stadium on Wednesday August 28 with the entire political office holders in the Government House as well as the SOLAD’s inspired the Heartland players to a resounding victory against Kano Pillars in an NPFL week 28 games.
