IMO GOVERNMENT, AMERICAN FIRM IN PARTNERSHIP TO BUILD INDUSTRIAL PARK

Imo State government and Bluefield Associates Incorporated, an
American firm have struck a deal to construct a commercial Industrial
Park and residential estate in the state under Private-
Public-Partnership [PPP].

Governor Owelle Okorocha, who stated this when he received a team of
investors led by former American Ambassador to Nigeria, Ms Robin
Sanders in Government House, Owerri said the state government is ready
to play its part in the deal by providing the necessary economic
incentive and land for the project.

He expressed delight on the proposal stressing that the concept is
totally in line with his industrialization and agricultural policies.

The governor reiterated that his administration would continue to
partner with genuine investors to develop all sectors of the economy
for enhanced revenue generation and overall development of the state.

He further disclosed that much effort is being made to create enormous
wealth in the state through agro-industrial venture which the governor
admitted would add values to agricultural products.

The leader of the team, Ambassador Robin Sanders said the proposed
venture with the state government is borne out of Governor Okorocha’s
commitment to develop the critical sectors of the economy of the
state.

She lauded the transformation initiative of the governor and expressed
optimism that the partnership would create job opportunities and
assist the state government access fund for further development from
the international agencies.

Also speaking, the Vice President, Bluefield Associates Incorporated,
Engr. K.C. Obioha said his firm would provide the initial equity,
management as well as fund the project.

He explained that the essence of venturing into such partnership with
the state government is to contribute to the rapid industrialization
of the state in line with governor Okorocha’s vision.

Engr. Obioha added that the industrial park would include an
integrated personal care product manufacturing plant and agro-industry
to process local agricultural products.
