Civil Servants in Imo State are experiencing difficult time in the hands of the state government as their entitled allowances and sundry payment remain un attended to.
The workers who spoke to our correspondent at the state secretariat, Port Harcourt Road, Owerri, expressed worries that against all expectations, they are yet to receive overtime Allowance entitled to certain categories of workers involved in overtime activities.
Some of the workers who clustered at the state secretariat, Owerri to bemoan their fate revealed that payments for hazards and statutory overtime- Allowance were practiced before the present government came into power.
A staffer in the Ministry of Works who does not want his name in print for fear of victimization reported that when the workers union protested against the action, government promised to re-address the matter by making up for the OTM payments.
The ministry staff who is a driver noted that he and other began operation earlier before resumption hours for workers and work beyond limit as drivers and office assistants to political office holders without adequate remuneration.
At the state House of Assembly, the story is the same with affected staffers undecided over the fate in managements inability to pay the OTM.
“For more than a year, we have not received our OTM. The worst is that Government is not coming forth in its promise he added.
