As the people of the three Local Governments of Mbaise Clan gather today at the Aboh Mbaise Local government for the annual Iri ji Mbaise festival, the biggest farmer at the festival would be rewarded with a whooping sum of seventy thousand naira (N70,000).
Trumpeta investigation unveiled that the gesture by the organizers of the festival and Traditional Rulers is to encourage healthy participation and competition at the ceremony.
The ceremony kick-started yesterday with some other activities like Town Hall meetings where a lot of issues that borders on strengthening peace and unity in Mbaise took the front burner.
Other activities include a carnival by students in the Higher Institutions from Mbaise, which culminated to a talk on “Defining Institutional role” by the citizenry.
According to feelers from the organisers, the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Emeka Ihedioha an indigene of the area, are among the prominent people who will grace the ceremony.
Apart from cultural displays and dances from the various communities in the area, the cultural troupe of Imo State from the Ministry of Culture will also be at hand to entertain the audience.
Highlights of the main event from over source, will be the ritual “Iwaji”Ceremony and award of trophies and prizes to the best farmer, best cultural dance at the competition among several others.
