The Catholic Archdiocese of Owerri, Ecclesiastic Province has ordained new Priests. The newly ordained priests have been found worthy having been tried and given spiritual training. The new priests are: Rev Isaac Chinemerem Chima, Rev Leo Chima Manu, Rev Philip Onyemuche Opara, Rev Emmanuel C. Unachukwu, Rev Aselem Osinachi Amadi, Rev Maxwell Chima Nwoha, Rev Austin John Udoette, Rev Eustace Chinedu Nwanekwu, Rev Lawrence B Putonor, Rev Vitus M. C. Unegbu and Rev Henry Obiomachukwu Nwanguma.
Performing the ritual rite of Catholic priest ordination, at Maria Assumpta Cathedral Owerri, Imo State, the Archbishop of Owerri Diocese, His Grace, Most Rev Anthony AJV Obinna, told the newly ordained priests to serve God faithfully and love mankind. “You should follow the foot-steps of Jesus Christ. Know what you are doing, imitate the mystery you celebrate, model your life in the mystery of the Holy Cross. Be a model of good conduct”, Bishop Obinna said.
The Archbishop in his homily charged Catholic faithfuls not to attach much importance on materialism so that they will not be misled in the work of God and humanity urging them to shun pride and pray fervently for the clergy men to forge ahead in their postoral call. He advised them against what he called popular religious superstition. The newly ordained priests promised to serve God faithfully and to be obedient to humanity.
The Special Mass was also commemoration of the feast of Saint Lawrence of Catholic all over the world.
