World Bank commends Guardian Correspondent, Management Over Coverage

Impressed by the wide coverage of its developmental activities in Imo State, the authorities of the World Bank has written a letter of Commendation to the Imo State Correspondent of The Guardian, Mr. Charles Ogugbuaja, for his dexterity in the coverage of its interventionist rural development poverty reduction activities through the Imo State Community and Social Development Project (CSDP) .
In statement/ letter of Commendation on behalf of the Sector Leader (Social Protection) Task Team Leader (TTL) of CSDP and signed the bank’s consultant, Prof. Akin O. Falusi, and addressed to Ogugbuaja and presented to Ogugbuaja in a short ceremony over the weekend in Owerri, by the Imo State General Manager of the CSDP, Mr. Austin Amah, the Bank noted particularly the coverage Ogugbuaja did on the CSDP’s “Mid Term Review Project” adding that it was read with admiration “all over the world”, insisting that The Guardian, through Ogugbuaja, had done a job which has the bank to hold the duo in “esteemed high regards”.
The statement read in part: “On behalf of Prof. Foluso Okunmadewa, Sector Leader (Social Protection and Task Team Leader (TTL) for Community and Social Development Project (CSDP), i wish to commend you and the management of Guardian Newspapers on your wide coverage of the activities of Imo State Community Social Development Project (CSDP) Mid Term Review Report which publication was read all over the world.
“The Community and Social Development Project (CSDP) is an intervention that uses Community Driven Development (CDD) as a mechanism for ensuring mass participation for poor rural dwellers in development and poverty reduction, and we intend to do more.
It continued, “You have showed indeed that Guardian Newspaper is a leading name in qualitative journalism as can be attested to in its motto of conscience nurtured by truth, and we wish you keep it up.
“Please be assured of my esteemed high regards.”
Receiving the commendation letter, Ogugbuaja, said he did his job as a reporter not knowing that all he did was commended at the bank’s headquarters in Washington DC, thanking the authorities for the attestation.
He promised to discharge his duties professionally by maintaining cordial relationship between the management of Guardian Newspapers and World Bank.
