Reacting to a recent publication in one of the newspapers in the state (not Trumpeta) where Senator Chris Anyanwu, senator representing Owerri zone in the senate was quoted as saying that Imo state is in dark since the assumption of Gov. Okorocha as Imo state governor, the zonal Chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Owerri zone, Chief Julian Nwaogu has lambasted Sen. Anyanwu for making such irresponsible comment and called her an ingrate for not associating with the party that threw her back to political limelight when she was drowning in Peoples Democratic party (PDP). Chief Nwaogu said that “instead of Imo being in darkness, it is Chris Anyanwu that would be in darkness because she is not seeing the enviable work of Governor Okorocha”.
He asked Sen. Anyanwu to compare the work of former Governor Ohakim and Gov. Okorocha, and queried if he is not seeing the laudable free education in the state which the past administration said is not feasible. The APGA Chieftain reminded her of the on going construction of new 27 General Hospitals, construction of on going 15 kilometers of road in each LGA and the Government strict adherence to the rule of law.
On zoning for Imo state gubernatorial race, he accused most of the leaders from Owerri zone of taking gratification and selling their rightful mandate to others, but thanked God for the people’s mandate that brought Governor Okorocha to the seat. He said that he will only support an Owerri zone person if Gov Okorocha decides not to contest. He warned senator Anyanwu and her bunch of detractors to give the governor a peace of mind so as to complete his good work in the state as it is the people that would decide in 2015 election.
However, the media aide to Sen. Chris Anyanwu, Mr Evarest Ezihe in a phone chat with our reporter, said that Chief Julian Nwaogu is not a member of APGA and has no capacity to speak for them as he has joined All Progressive Congress (APC) with Gov. Okorocha. He said that in the appropriate time, they would respond to the right APGA spokes person. “Ordinarily, we don’t reply idiots as a true APGA person can’t reply Sen. Anyanwu”, he said. He also debunked the allegation that Gov. Okorocha made Anyanwu a senator but said that the Governor should owe victory to Anyanwu as her goodwill and God made Okorocha to win the first election in his life. He accused Gov. Okorocha as describing APGA as a socio-cultural club and not a party.
It would be recalled that Sen. Anyanwu while delivering her address at the just held Imo political summit said that Imo state is hungry for re-direction and must be put back on the track. She said that Imolites must collectively envision this state and have equity with equality.
