The matter representing Ohaji/Egbema state constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Luke Chukwu would be thanking his stars as he escaped mob attack from aggrieved youths of the area who stopped a stakeholders meeting at the Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo-Ohaji.
Tension has been high in Ohaji/Egbema Community over alleged plans by the present administration of the vital courses from the main campus at Umuagwo in Ohaji/Egbema to other newly established campuses at Orlu, Ehime Mbano and Ikeduru.
At a meeting of the stakeholders summoned by the lawmaker at the Imopoly hall yesterday, the aggrieved youths who felt betrayed and unpleasant over the poor representation so far experienced in the hands of Chukwu stormed the place to expresses their grievances while the meeting was on, the youth showing resentment against the lawmaker expressed dissatisfaction that the action of the lawmaker was belated as he had kept mute while the community protested against government decision.
What however irked the youths was that Hon Chukwu was privy to the action of the members of the state legislature of who reportedly perfected the legal structure for the balkanization. A document brandished by the protesting youths indicated that the House had discussed the matter before presenting it to the Governor for his accent.
The youths were miffed at the action of the lawmaker who the accused of sabotage and lacking the necessary moral courage and legislative know how to protect the interest of his constituents in state issues.
The youths who barricaded the place further accused Chief Chukwu of attempting to disrupt the meeting the state Governor had already scheduled with youths of Ohaji/Egbema by fixing meeting the same day the Governor arranged to meet youths of the area.
One of the youths, Tochukwu Amadi told our correspondent that “Hon Chukwu is not worthy to represent Ohaji/Egbema. He is a complete failure and a big minus agitating for the rights of his people. How can he be there, the issue of Imopoly was discussed and passed to Governor for assent and he never informed us. Now that we protested and had audience with Governor, he is now calling meeting at Imoply not even in his house or constituency office. Even the meeting clashed with that of the Governor who wants to have interactions with us. He is a saboteur. He wants to frustrate our parley with the Governor.
