Over 1.7 million candidates registered for the 2013/2014 Jamb and close to 1million people scored below 200. over 500,000 also scored below 180 which is the minimum university requirement.
Polytechnics are bent on having more applicants than the University this year, it is not possible for all the Polytechnic in the states to admit more than 200,000 students due to the population, and gaining admission this year would not be quite easy. Polytechnics will have more applicant than the universities this year, as pressure and demand for poly will increase and therefore cause disappointment to students.

IMSU Expels 60 Students As Many Repeats

More than 60 students of Imo State University (IMSU) including some final year students were expelled from the institution, following their inability to obtain a CGPA of atleast 1.01 on a scale of 5. Others who got above 1.00 but below 1.50 previous session 2011/2012 were asked to repeat a session if they want to remain in the institution. This scheme was introduced in order to put away laziness and encourage students to take their studies & exams serious. The new Vice Chancellor, who was the immediate past Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Prof Ukachukwu Awuzie is the master piece behind this new act set to revolutionize academic business at IMSU.

Sensitization Campaign For Students Underway

Following a report that a female student of Federal Polytechnic Nekede infected about 25 persons with the deadly HIV/AIDS virus, the school authorities have embarked on plans to organize a sensitization campaign.
A reliable source disclosed to Campus Gist that HIVAIDS seminar and workshop programmes is underway to sensitize and educate the students on the dangers of the deadly disease.
The source also went further to say that they have decided to be organizing such seminar and workshop program on regular basis in order to help lecture, advice and render medical advice to the students campus gist also learnt that the school authority will also carryout free HIV screening on students, the programme is going to be held at regular intervals about four times in a year.
