The Transition Committee Chairman of Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo state Bar.Greg Anyanwu has been accused of diverting into his personal use, the sum of N30m meant for infrastructural development in the council.
Making this known to the public is a member of the Imo state House of Assembly and Committee Chairman on project and Evaluation, Hon. Kingsley Dimaku.
According to Dimaku who is representing Ehime Mbano in the State Legislature during a press briefing to update journalists on the activities of his committee, the Ohaji/Egbema TC Chairman allegedly utilized the sum of N30m without anything to show for the amount collected. The Ehime Mbano representative who expressed regret that some TC Chairmen are truncating the efforts of the State Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha, to rescue the people at the grassroots stated that the case of Ohaji/Egbema is pathetic as the TC Chairman is said to be using conduct pipe to siphon public fund.
Dimaku said “While touring the LGA’s in the course of my statutory duties, there are some contractors I asked to stop work because of the sub – standard items being use for their various projects. In Ohaji/Egbema, the TC Chairman, Bar.Greg Anyanwu paid a contractor N30m without any structure on ground. In fact what is happening in Ohaji/Egbema is going to be a catastrophe. I have a video recording of the contractor that is used as a smokescreen by Anyanwu. I have evidence of money been transferred to Anyanwu’s bank account number. I also have evidence of a trailer load of cement transferred from a government building site to the private house the chairman is erecting. I have evidence of rod worth N1.8m dropped at the Development Centre for building of government hospital being carted to the private house the TC Chairman is building”.
Speaking further about Bar. Anyanwu who was suspended recently by the Governor but was pardoned to continue his TC job, Hon. Dimaku there is going to be a problem for Ohaji/Egbema people if the TC Chairman is not called to order as none of the projects in the council is having a smooth sail. Hon. Dimaku averred that the State Assembly is going ahead to do more verification on how Bar. Anyanwu allegedly diverted Public funds and items into personal use even as he accused the TC Chairman of committing several unprintable anomalies while handling projects in the area.
Attempts to speak to Bar.Anyanwu on the issue failed as he rebuffed our correspondent when approach at the Assembly complex to react on the matter. His member rang repeatedly without anybody responding when calls were put to his phone numbers for reactions. A text message sent for his reaction was also not attended to.
