Curiosity has continued to rise on the laudable project of the wife of Imo State Governor. Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha. Known as “She Needs A Roof Project” (SNARP) which is the idea of building ten (10) two- bedroom bungalows for indigent widows and orphans across the 27 LGA of Imo State. It would be noted that Nneoma Okorocha has been commissioning the ‘SNARP’ buildings in the 27 LGA of Imo state as she promised to build more making it 270 bungalows.
However, the joy of Widows was cut short at Umughara Otulu Ahiazu Mbaise LGA the home town of Imo House of Assembly Majority Leader, Hon Adaku Ihuoma when indigent widows and orphans were denied the right of having roofs over their heads as it was alleged to have been hijacked by politicians in Ahiazu Mbaise LGA.
The revelation was unraveled when Nneoma Okorocha on arriving at the venue for the commissioning of the house and expecting to see a poor widow as the beneficiary got disappointed when one pregnant woman, Mrs Augustina Dike who already had 7 children came out to claim the house. Further investigation confirmed that her husband is still alive but was conspicuously kept in the dark as it was politically planned.
However, Nneoma Okorocha expressed shock over the development as she condemned it in totality saying the programme was meant for Widows only. She however, said that it was the woman’s luck of Mrs Dike but promised to involve traditional rulers, henceforth on selection of the widows and orphans that would benefit from SNARP.
In a chat with some of the widows present, they pointed accusing fingers at the Majority Leader of Imo State House of Assembly and their representative, Hon Adaku Ihuoma (Mrs), as the brain behind the plot that rubbed widows the House. They also mentioned Chief PC Onuoha, the SA to Governor Okorocha on political matters, and the Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr Charles Onuoha, as the major people that hatched the plan, and fooled the First Lady, to build a House for a non widow against the rule of the organization.
Meanwhile, the sole Administrator Ahiazu Mbaise, LGA, Hon Mrs Grace Iwuchukwu exonerated herself from the drama as she stated that the building had started before she assumed office. Also, most of the Traditional Rulers present expressed their disappointment on the unfair selection of the recipient she assumed office.
