Of all the legions of petitions pouring into the office of Chief Justice of Nigeria, against Hon Justice Goddy Anunihu, it was learnt that three major allegations irked the Council, which prompted the query fired at Anunihu.

In a letter from the office of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, and Chairman, National Judicial Council, Ref No. NJC/S.16/HC.IM/15/1/52 dated 22nd May, 2013, and copied to the Honourable Chief Judge of Imo State, Justice BA Njemanze, Justice Anunihu was ordered to respond to the query within three weeks, and it was signed by Aloma Mariam Mukhtar (GCON) Chief Justice of the Federation.

Among other allegations against the embattled Judge, was that “Justice Anunihu is controversially known for sitting at night during the infamous Sir Jude Agbaso impeachment saga”.

The learned Judge was alleged to “also acquitted a former Local Government Chairman accused of hiring assassins to kill a politician and his driver while the two assassins who confessed that they were hired by the culprit were condemned to death”.

The petition also alleged that “Justice Anunihu also is the judge that ignored a court order and continued to sit on the phantom allegations against former members of the Executive of the previous administration”.

They query addressed to Justice Anunihu read: “Re: Honourable Justice Goddy Anunihu, Judge of Imo State High Court: Abuse of oath of office and code for Judicial Officers: And Acts that Negate the Rule of Law”.

Part of the content read “I forward herewith a petition dated 10th May 2013 against you on the above subject matter. The petition speaks for itself. I shall be glad to have your comments within three weeks from the date of receipt of this letter, please”.

Every effort by Trumpeta to contact the revered Judge proved abortive as his phone rang repeatedly without response.

Meanwhile, a source chose to the Judge said he traveled out of the state, and refused to comment of the query
