In apparent bid to make real its protest threat against the Nigerian State over the senseless killings of innocent Igbo Christians in different parts of the country, particularly in the North, the Movement for the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has declared sit-at-home order on Saturday June 8, 2013.
MASSOB leader in Owerri, Chief Okechukwu Nwogu, in a statement urged Imo people to comply with the directives of MASSOB to drive home protest against inhumanity meted to Ndigbo by the Nigerian state.
While accusing the international Community of watching the killing of Igbo Christians with conspiratorial silence, the MASSOB leader noted that “never in history have a people been so brutalized, hated and traumatized as they have done to the Igbo tribe of Eastern Nigeria.
He criticised the Federal Government for extending amnesty to Boko Haram sect who, he described as murderers and called on the United Nations (UN) to grant independence to Biafra as the only solution to stop the killing of Igbo Christians.
“It is a paradox for the Federal Government to grant amnesty to the Boko Haram members who are murderers but has refused to compensate Ndigbo in the North who have lost their lives and businesses as a result of Boko Haram attacks. So we are appealing to our brothers and sisters to stay at home on June 8 to protest manifest injustice against Ndigbo by the Nigerian State.”
