Apparently irked by the mannerImoStatefunds are being spent by the present administration, the state chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria may drag the state Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha to anti – graft bodies in the country.
The ACN in a statement released to media houses in Owerri and made available to Imo Trumpeta last week stated that a “total amount of money raised either from the Federation Account or loans contracted on behalf of the state or internally generated revenue from taxation, royalties, dividends from investments, grants in the past one year totaling over N160b belongs to Imo people and therefore is sacred”
According to the statement signed by Christian Oguoma, ACN Secretary in the state, the party is surprised that “these monies do not in any way reflect the trend of development in the state”
Even as the state government has not in any way reacted to the statement used by various media houses in the state, a party source has disclosed that arrangements have been concluded to report the Governor to anti – graft bodies for investigation.
A top notcher of the party who does not want his name to be mentioned told Imo Trumpeta that they are gathering data of the alleged reckless spending to report to EFCC and ICPC.
According to the ACN party chieftain who walked into Trumpeta office to voice out, “we are not fools in Imo state. We plotted the fall of Ohakim, but Okorocha reaped from it. We thought he will govern Imo well judging from the massive support he received. But the reverse is the case this time. Owelle is only doing Imo people “the more you look, the less you see” brand of governance. And it is unfortunate”.
The party chieftain noted that the ACN gave Owelle a year to express himself but he has ended up spoiling the fun for Imo people. Speaking further, the politician who frowned at Owelle’s neglect for due process stressed that Imo people deserve to know how he spent the N68b received so far as monthly allocation, N40b to LGA’s which the Governor privately manages, excess crew of N13b, IGR estimated at N800m per month as declared by the Finance Commissioner totaling N10b a year, total loan portfolio of N12b approved by the Imo House, N13b left by Ohakim and another N11b the former Governor claimed he left in various banks accounts belonging to the state as well as N66.7b internal loans, Okorocha said he collected as stated in the 2012 budget.
According to the ACN stalwart who aspired for an elective position in the past, the monies spent on roads did not go through tenders board and due process. He querried how a single company (names withheld) is handling a school project for N56m each in all the 27 LGA’s in the state.
The party leader also frowned at the level of demolition and destruction of existing structure by the present government adding that it was unfair for Governor Okorocha to waste state fund on mere renovation work when the existing structures are in proper shape.
Speaking further, the ACN member disclosed that the anti – graft bodies will come in and ascertain how the allocation toImoStateis spent.
