RITUALISTS ON RAMPAGE BE- HEADS WOMAN AT EGBU.

 

The residents of Egbu community in Owerri North Local Government Area,ImoStateare not only mourning but angry over the beheading of one of their own, Mrs Evelyn Uzodinma.

Mrs Uzodinma, a native of Ofuzo, Egbu, was said to have been beheaded while in her farm.

According to the husband, Mr Nat Uzodinma, the wife met her untimely death last Friday when she went to a nearby farm to cultivate cassava.

Another source who spoke to Imo Trumpeta said the mother of two had left home at about 4pm that fateful, a day there was burial ceremony taking place in the village, with nearly all the residents attending, therefore leaving the farms lonely.

The husband said after waiting for the wife without seeing her as night approached, he went to the farm, only to discover the headless body of the wife, lying in a pool of her blood.

The husband therefore alerted the community who trooped to the scene, and later combed the entire bush around the village, without a trace of the perpetrators or her head.

Speaking to Imo Trumpeta, the Vigilante coordinator in Egbu, Hon Sam Ejeka said the culprits could only run but cannot hide, as his organization would not rest, until the killers are fished out.

“This is an affront and insult on Egbu Community. Everything would be done to track down the killers of this our sister and mother” Ejeka, former Councilor of Egbu Ward told Imo Trumpeta.

Another prominent son of Egbu, Mr Jam Eke, who spoke to Imo Trumpeta expressed anger that a wife of one of their own could be so subjected to such a terrible death, warning that from hence forth, any criminal who wants to perpetrate any act in Egbu would have himself to blame.

“This is very bad. Egbu populace have lived very peacefully until now. Criminals in this town would be flushed out soon” he said.

Meanwhile, Imo Trumpeta investigation unveiled that the crime may have be committed by ritualists, because of the manner the body was mutilated, with prominent parts missing.

The incident which took place on June 1, 2012, has been reported to the police.
