The desire of Owelle Rochas Okorocha to provide job opportunities to graduates and unemployed persons in Imo State may be marred by irregularities and scandals if reports from some LGAs in the state are anything to go by.
It was reported that the state government has distributed employment opportunity forms to the LGA SOLADs recently after it had invited Imo graduates who came from far and near to assemble at the Heroes Square Owerri for employment and a monthly stipend of N20,000 as announced by the government that never be, which was later described by the helpless graduates who attended the programme as a fluke or political rally.
Interestingly, the SOLADs were said to have given the forms to their Personal Assistants (PAs) and errand boys for sale to their different LG unemployed graduates which has led to allege hoarding of the limited forms.
Reports reaching Trumpeta newspaper from Nkwerre to Ideato South, to Owerri West, down to Obowo LGA the story are the same on the alleged irregularities and scandal.
Another, irregularities reported on the issuance of the said form is the issue of nepotism where the PAs and errand boys’ incharge of the sale of the forms deny those who came first the opportunity to buy the form because they are keeping them for their family, friends and relations.
Party affiliation is another reported criteria in the sale and purchase of the said forms, it was revealed that the membership of any member of ones family in either Agenda group of APGA is an added advantage towards the purchase of the employment forms.
However, the information Trumpeta later got was that the Ministry of Youth and Sports is also distributing the forms and according to the Commissioner Hon. Kenneth Emelu the forms were distributed 150 each to all the local governments in the state.
