The member representing Oguta State Constituency in Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Prince Eugene Dibiagwu whose poll was nullified and ordered for re-run election by a law court on 20th April,2013 has insisted that Imo State Resident INEC Commissioner, Mrs Celina Oko should be transferred to another state to enable free and fair polls take place in the forthcoming House of Assembly re-run election in Oguta LGA.
Hon Dibiagwu disclosed that he has lost confidence in the Resident Commissioner following the way and manner she handled proceedings of the recent Oguta stakeholders meeting held on 15th May, 2013 between INEC and the political parties.
He said that the Commissioner held an illegal meeting with the Sole Administrator of Oguta LGA prior to the stakeholders meeting adding that the Commissioner after the meeting, retired to SOLAD’s House whom he described as the ACN candidate before being appointed the SOLAD of the LGA where she (Oko) was entertained with assorted meals. He however said that he is 100% in support of the recent statement by his political party (PDP) that the commissioner is biased and should be urgently removed to ensure a hitch free in the election.
According to him, the action of the Commissioner has shown that the election will be rigged if she is allowed to conduct the election.
Hon Dibiagwu reiterated that her action was official misconduct and unethical.
He described the judgment delivered by the court as unprecedented adding that his people have demonstrated that has actually assured him that he will regain their mandate.
“Imo state government is intimidating Oguta people. Is it proper for the SOLAD Henry Igbomezie to dissolve vigilante groups and family unions in Oguta party affiliation has nothing to do in this election. What matters is the quality of the candidate in question.
He said my people have endorsed me and vowed to safe-guard their votes” concluded.
He lamented that his past antecedents would continue to lure his people into voting for him again.
He further called on Federal Republic of Nigeria to deploy capable security agencies to ensure that the election undergo free and fair.
