FED Cup Draw
Unfolds Today
Draws for the 2013 Federation cup finals will hold today at the Fifed technical center, National Stadium, Abuja.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) director of competitions, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi said a total of 63 clubs will be involved in the annual Football event.
Only Yobe State did not register a club for the glamorous competition while Ranches Bees of Kaduna may forfeit its spot if they fail to pay an outstanding debt of 200,000 on or before today morning.
The money according to reports is their fine for late registration for last year’s competition despite several written undertakings to pay.
20 NPFL clubs, the 22 from NNL as well as nine clubs from the Nationwide League and 12 non-League teams will be involved in the draw ceremony.
A special feature has been added to this year’s draw with the draw for Women’s Federation cup competition taking place alongside of the men’s event will involve 22 clubs.
The final for this year’s Fed, cup will take place at the lush pitch of the Teslim Balogun stadium, Lagos on Saturday, July 28 and the Women’s final holding at same venue on July 27.
Heartland fc of Owerri is the men’s Fed. Cup holders while Rivers Angels Port Harcourt share the same honor in the Women’s category.
Papilo Doles Out Half A Million To Imo All-stars
Imo All-Stars on Saturday May 25 received a huge boost for their ongoing sports complex project when Ambassador Kanu Papilo Nwankwo donated a cheqeu of Five Hundred thousand naira.
Kanu who trained with the team stated that he will continue to support
The All-Stars project commending its members for the giant project they have embarked upon that will go a long way to promote sports development in the state.
The former Portsmouth fc player also donated a Bus to Papilo fc Academy in conjunction with the All-Stars to also help in discovering more talented players that will one day grow to become like him.
Reacting to the gesture the club president Eng. Ugochukwu Nnah expressed satisfaction towards the financial boost the organization has received from a great football icon.
Nnah thanked kanu on behalf of All-stars promising that the amount will be used judiciously in actualizing the project stating that Papilo has always shown love and tremendous support to the club in many ways that cannot be quantified.
In his own statement Mr. Ray Ebede noted that Kanu’s Brother Ogbonna Kanu an Ex-Ajax fc of Holland player also made personal donation of 50,000 to the sports complex project adding that the brothers have been committed to the task of supporting projects that will improve the development of our people.
When completed the Sports Complex is expected to serve not only the All-Stars members but all Imo athletes form the state preparing for National and International competitions.
