My Regrets Over Aguwa, Pini Jason Deaths: They Died Without Their Severance Allowances – Ohakim

The immediate past Governor of Imo State, Dr Ikedi Ohakim who could not hold back tears during the church burial ceremony of late Dr Aloysius Aguwa at Mater Ecclesia Cathedral, Nnarambia, Ahiara Mbaise, said his only regret was that Aguwa died without receiving his Severance Allowance from the Imo State Government.

Ohakim who broke down in tears said that it was unfortunate that despite the fact that Aguwa rendered selfless service to the people of Imo State when he served as the Commissioner for Petroleum and Environment, the incumbent administration led by Owelle Rochas Okorocha refused to pay Aguwa his entitlements until he died in that ghastly motor accident on May 1, 2013.

The former Governor also said that even Chief Pini Jason, whose own burial takes place on June 1, 2013 never received his severance allowance till his death. Late Jason served as Special Adviser to Ohakim.

He continued that he (Ohakim) may also die without receiving his statutory allowances from the Okorocha led Government, as he has not been paid his entitlement two years after leaving office, while his colleagues in other states have received theirs.

In the homily, the Priest, Rev Fr Uju Aguwa, who happens to be the elder brother to late Aloysius, said his younger brother was sitting in the bossom of God, because he lived a good life, by touching many lives.

In the funeral oration, the first son of late Aguwa, Chris said his father still lives because of the children he left behind, adding that “we are consoled that our father lived his life with humility and set an impeccable legacy and example for us all to follow”.

Present at the burial ceremony include Dr Ikedi Ohakim, Hon Emeka Ihedioha, Prof Anthony Anwuka (SSG), Chief Jude Ejiogu, Senator Chris Anyanwu, Prof Viola Onwuliri, Chief Achike Udenwa, Dr Mrs Ada Okwuonu, Chief Austine Papa, Chief Emma Ohakim, Hon Nnanna Igbokwe, Hon Jerry Alagbaso, Chief Emma Ojinere, Chief Humphrey Anumudu, Dr Eustace Eke, Engr Ebere Udeagu, former Commissioners, members of House of Assembly and others.
