Aftermath Of Meeting With Rochas Udenwa Renews Senatorial Ambition For 2015 As ACN Changes To APC

2015

Political reengineerings are underway in Imo State politics as top shots oil their political machines for the 2015 election.

One of the prominent political leaders said to be warming up for another electoral contest is the former Governor of Imo State, Chief Achike Udenwa.

Udenwa it would be recalled lost the bid to represent Orlu zone (Imo West) as a Senator at the National Assembly in 2011. The former Governor who contested under ACN lost to Senator Hope Uzodimma of PDP.

In a bid to achieve his dream of representing Orlu zone at the Senate, Udenwa has started regrouping his political loyalists for the task ahead.

After a fruitful discussion with the state Governor, Okorocha last Tuesday in Owerri, where APC formation in Imo and Orlu Agenda for 2015 election gained prominence, Udenwa went home to renew his campaign machinery.

A meeting of ACN stalwarts comprising “Onongono” political structure that joined ACN with Udenwa from his former party, PDP, were at the Amaifeke, Orlu home of the former Governor. Those who thronged Orlu were Udenwa loyalists from Orlu zone. Though Udenwa did not publicly declare his interest at the occasion, but his body language and other signs at the venue showed that he is eyeing the Orlu zone senate seat.

In his opening speech, Chief Dr. Achike Udenwa expressed delight for the mammoth crowd who made the impromptu call, especially the people of Orlu zone who have been his bedrock and strong shield in his political pursuits. Dr. Udenwa stated that since his leadership in ACN, there has been massive progress at all levels and unequivocally said that the ACN they knew before has now changed to APC which is still in control of almost all the political positions. Chief Achike Udenwa therefore urged the crowd never to relent in supporting their new born APC as their symbol still remains “A Broom” together with its leaders piloting the affairs. He said that if APC is supported in 2015, there will be a positive record, either in the state or the nation. Adding, two political stalwarts, Dr Mike Ahamba and Cornel Iheanacho assured the people of effective representation if they stand firm to support the newly transited and elevated APC.

Meanwhile, the long propounded merging of ACN to APC has finally been concluded by the party stakeholders on Saturday 25th May, 2013 at Amaifeke Orlu. The summit was hosted by the former Governor of Imo State, Chief Dr Achike Udenwa and in his abode which entertained all Wards, LGAs in Orlu zone.

Speaking to Trumpeta shortly after the rally, the State Chairman of ACN, Hon C.C. Ubah said that the main motive for the gathering was to highlight, educate and entertain the good people of Orlu zone for their maximum support to their worthy son, Chief Dr Achike Udenwa who has achieved a lot for the state and the nation, only with the strong fate they have in him.

Speaking further, Hon. Ubah stated that the transition of ACN to APC is for a stronger nation and political dividends as ACN has never failed its members, and will still remain steadfast in safeguarding the interest of the masses.

He said “We have the intention of mobilizing about 77,000 members in the state, and with these singular summit, the sky is indeed our limit”.

Hon Ubah, therefore urged the people of Orlu zone to be grateful to what they have as they are proud and sure of producing an enviable and fearless Governor, Senator or President come 2015.

In his contribution, Dr Barr Ifeanyi Ekenaso, the Zonal Chairman of ACN in Orlu zone stated that ACN has always been an umbrella shielding the people of its interest. He further stated that whether ACN, ANPP, PDP, APGA or APC what should be of paramount importance should be the welfare of its citizens, describing the resolve of all the Local Governments to join the   APC Orlu zone shows the love they have for their patriotic leader, Achike Udenwa and the party at large.

Dr Ifeanyi Ekenaso categorically stated that come 2015, PDP will not make a positive impact as the APC will sweep the polls.
