Christian Fathers have been advised to be more committed to their families by showing them unquantifiable measure of love and affection.
Chaplain of St. Joseph Catholic Chaplaincy Imo State University, Owerri Rev. Fr. Dr. Anthony Njoku gave the advice while preaching on Sunday April 5, 2013 during this years annual Fathers day celebration at the Chaplaincy.
Rev. Fr. Njoku noted that part of the societal ills and moral decadence prevalent in the country today is grossly traced to lack of good family upbringing.
According to the clergyman, this has been because of the neglect of social family responsibilities by parents in pursuit of earthly wealth and treasure, pointing out that a situation where parents abdicate their role in the family in pursuit of materialism is an ill wind that blows no one any good.
He therefore advised parents to have more time with their families as that is the only way to imbibe a better family and family values among the children.
The Christian fathers day which coincided with the St. Joseph patron day was lavishly celebrated by worshippers of St. Joseph Chaplaincy and their friends who were treated with varieties of entertainment.
Part of the entertainment during the two day celebration included a Saturday evening seat out by the chaplaincy members and their friends as well as a novelty match between the Christian fathers and Christian mothers which ended in a penalty shoot out in favour of the Christian fathers.
