Eze Ilomuanya still has swagger
Onyeze wu Onyeze” some body whispered to Popular Side, immediately His Royal Highness, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya zoomed inside the St Cyprian Anglican church Umuihi, Ihitte Uboma LGA last Friday at Emeka Ihedioha’s sister’s burial.
With his height, size and entourage, it was difficult for worshipers not to take notice that a “heavy” personality has walked into the service.
Ilomuanya walked majestically, while a man tagged behind him carrying the Royal Father’s cap and walking stick.
Hon Ihedioha, immediately announced his arrival, but not without mentioning “Chairman of the Southeast Council of Traditional Rulers’.
“Many had thought that with the way Governor Okorocha fought him and even removed him as the Chairman of Imo Traditional Rulers Council his swagger would have faded away. But Bros, Ilomuanya still get swagger oo! Some body whispered to Popular Side who nodded his head in agreement.
Ijeoma Nwafor back on the block?
National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Maurice Iwu, who is from Ehime Mbano LGA but married to Dr Nwafor, from Mbaitoli LGA,
“IJ” as called by friends, was a former Special Adviser to the former Governor, Dr Ikedi Ohakim, where she exhibited her intellect to the admiration of her employers.
The American trained Technocrat tried her hands on the Ikeduru/Mbaitoli Federal Constituency, PDP Primaries where she gave the incumbent. Hon Bethel Amadi the fight of his life which many still believe Ijeoma was “swindled” out through “mago, mago”.
However, the story is that Ijoma may yet again run under PDP for the primaries in 2015.
The popular saying now is that whoever that is going to contest against this lady that has both brain and beauty should gird his/her loin as the battle will be tough, especially now that there is the rumour that Bethel Amadi is eying Douglas House in 2015. Is the coast now clear for IJ? Time will tell.
Ebere Udeagu and Simplicity
His Excellency, Chief Ebere Udeagu, was a former Deputy Governor of Imo State. The Ihube, Okigwe LGA born Water Engineer has remained “quiet” as ever since he left office, in 2007, after his Boss, Dr Achike Udenwa rather than hand-over to him, prefared a legion of candidates which led to confusion and Udenwa anointing Ikedi Ohakim at the last minute.
Poplar side sighted the cool and easy-going former Deputy Governor at St Cyprian’s Church Umuihi, Ihitte-Uboma LGA lask weekend during the burial of Hon Emeka Ihedioha’s sister Natachi.
Udeagu who entered when Ihedioha was making his closing remarks, quietly took a seat far behind, while those who entered with him, mainly serving and former Imo Lawmakers, scrambled for vintage positions.
Surprisingly, Ihedioha rather recognized Udeagu who sat far away, by saying “I have seen the former Deputy Governor, Engr Ebere Udeagu walk in now”. It was at this juncture that heads turned to the direction of Udeagu sitting.
Chris Okewulonu, as a man of “Butter and Bread”
if there is any lucky man in Imo politics since the inception of the current Democratic dispensation, that person is Chief (Barr) Chris Okewulonu, (EBEKUO DIKE of Obowo).
From his humble law chamber in Aba, Abia State Okewulonu rose to the House of Assembly, Assembly Liasion Officer, Commissioner for Information, later that of Works and crowned it all with the position of Secretary of the state Government.
Right from Achike Udenwa’s era to that of Ikedi Ohakim, Okewulonu has not known suffer or what it means to look for job in Nigeria.
Presently, he is a Commissioner representing Imo State at the Federal Fiscal Commission. He lives in Abuja and only ventures into Imo sparsely, therefore “Chop” his money alone, unlike the home based politicians who encounter “Talakawas” every day in their offices and homes.
As 2015 approaches, will Okewulonu contest for some thing or will his star continue to shine on end an appointee? Okewulonu is a lucky man and should thank Nigerian democracy .The man don really Chop, and usually “alone”. Na Waoh!
