Imo polity was severally shaken few weeks ago over alleged bribery scandal that rocked the contract awarded to JPross International Limited. Even as the crisis led to the impeachment of the former Deputy Governor, Sir Jude Agbaso and invasion of the state by anti-graft bodies, work has resumed at the site of the contract.
Our reporter who was on the road noticed presence of machines and workers handling jobs.
When contacted for comments, the Commissioner for Works, Nick OparaNdudi disclosed that the ministry is working according to the reports of the Imo State House of Assembly.
According to OparaNdudi, the House report directed the Ministry of Works and office of the Attorney General to ensure that work resumes at the project site.
Said he, “It is part of the Exco responsibilities to carry out House of Assembly probe committee report. We drew the attention of the contractor to the non completion of the work. And you know we have paid them. So, their resumption is in order”.
