PDP Queries Okorocha’s Release of N750m to Community Govt Councils

For releasing the sum of N750m (seven hundred and fifty million naira) as take-off grant to the Community Government Councils in Imo State, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Imo Chapter has challenged the State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha to explain to Imo populace where the money came from.

In a release signed by Chief Blyden Amajirionwu, the State Public Secretary, the PDP wondered how such huge sum was doled out to Communities when the 2013 Budget was yet to be passed by the Legislator and signed into Law by the Executive arm of the Government.

“We are almost in the fifth month of the year, yet the 2013 budget has not been passed by the Imo State House of Assembly”, PDP said.

The party was worried that despite all efforts to make Gov Okorocha operate by the laws of land, he prefers impunity without due process.

“Recently the sum of seven hundred and fifty million naira (N750m) was released for the take off of the CGC. Where is the budgetary back-up? From which budgetary sub heads are the financial releases made?” PDP queried.

It accused Okorocha of total abuse of Law, lack of due process and the use of the most irregular methods in conducting Government affairs, which it said has destroyed Imo State.

“The extent of destruction being permeated presently by Okorocha led government will take over 50 years to remedy. All Economic Institutions of Government like  ITC, ADAPALM, Concorde Hotel, General Hospitals have been greedily sold” PDP maintained.

Imo PDP accused Okorocha of sacking 10,000 youths of Imo extraction from their jobs, but has spent two years in office without creating a single employment, but rather is busy roving around the world for which he purchased a private jet with tax payers money.
