Mrs Callista, the wife of Hon Osita Nnewuihe, whose Mercedes Benz car was involved in an accident with the Convoy of Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has appealed to the people of the state to help her plead to the Governor to temper justice with mercy, by releasing his husband.
Speaking to Trumpeta at Awo-Omamma, in Oru East LGA, Mrs Nnewuihe who refused this Newspaper taking her picture for being a civil servant, said that what happened was simply an accident, begging that the incident should not be overblown by rumour mongers and sycophants.
Narrating the matter to Trumpeta, she said her husband, Hon Osita Nnewuihe, who was a councilor of Awo-Omamma Ward 1, under APP platform during the chairmanship of Chime Nzeribe, on that fateful day went to Urualla, in Ideato North LG, to drop off his two daughters who had visited for weekend, and was on his way back when the accident happened near St Mary’s Seminary, Umuowa Orlu.
“Honestly, nobody will ever want to risk his/her life in an accident. It was purely an accident, so nobody is to be blamed” the woman stated.
She however lamented that her husband, who is under police custody has not received adequate treatment, apart from a first aide he received from Federal Medical Centre FMC, since the date of the incident.
“Please, help me tell the police to treat my husband. He is not running away. He has not received adequate treatment” Mrs Nnewuihe pleaded.
Also reacting, the immediate elder brother of Hon Osita, who refused to give his name, said nobody should blame the police for detaining his brother, as they are doing their constituted job, but only appealed that he should be given adequate care and treatment while in detention so that his health would not fail him.
