The National President of Orluzurumee Youth Assembly and Co-ordinator, of Every Child Education and Advancement Foundation, Comrade Nwadike Precious Uwadi has petitioned the Commissioner of Police,ImoState, alleging threats to his life.
In the petition dated 17/5/2012 and with the caption “The continued threat to my life” Nwadike alleged that the Secretary to Imo State Government, Prof Anthony Gozie Anwuka is threatening his life.
“He recently placed a call across to me where he described me and my members as rats and that nothing will happen to him should he deal with me and my members, which I recorded in one of my phones” the petition read in part.
Nwadike explained that his face – off with the SSG dated as far back as Nov, 21, 2011 at the Government House Owerri where he allegedly assaulted him.
He said that at that occasion, Anwuka saw him and began to threaten and harass him.
In a petition written by his Lawyer, Barrister Uche Wisdom Durueke of Wisdom Chambers, and addressed to Prof Anwuka, Nwadike had demanded (N15,000,000,000) fifteen million Naira for damages over the assault against him, which he said Anwuka has not responded to up till now.
In the Government House scenario, “Though our client held his peace and refused to join issues with you in apparent recognition of your age and status, you went ahead to use the end of your staff (walking stick) to hook our client on the neck and dragged him outside the lodge with same” his lawyer wrote.
Anwuka was alleged to have used the staff to hit Nwadike who “managed to block same with his hand”
Therefore, the issue now, according to the Orluzurumee Youth Leader, is that his life is in danger and “should anything happen to me or any of our members, Prof Anthony Gozie Anwuka should be held responsible”.
When Imo Trumpeta called Prof Anwuka, his phone rang repeatedly without any response from him.
However, an aide to the SSG who spoke to us under anonymity said Prof Anwuka cannot threaten anybody, much less Nwadike, whom our source described as a desperate youth who is looking for fame and easy lucre.
“This Nwadike is acting a script written for him by face – less and disgruntled elements trying to tarnish the image of Prof Anwuka, but they will not succeed” the source said.
He said Prof Anwuka cannot degenerate too low to physically attack any citizen of Imo State as he knows the status of his office, and will continue to respect it.
