Hon. Victor Mere, member representing Owerri Municipal State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, has expressed optimism that the disputed Area k land dispute between Amawom community in Owere Nchi Ise and the Imo State Government will soon be resolved peacefully.
Hon Mere who spoke to newsmen weekend, said plans are underway to ensure that the dispute is peacefully resolved.
Mere who spoke on a wide range of issues, declared that he has effectively represented his constituents in the last one year and shall re double his efforts to ensure that the good people of Owere Nchi Ise continues to benefit from the rescue package of the Rochas Okorocha Administration. He said he has made useful contributions on the floor of the House of Assembly in the last one year, through bills and motions. Some of the bills include; decongestion of Owerri and opening up of the sewage systems in Owerri metropolis.
He commended Governor Rochas Okorocha for the massive infrastructural development such as construction of new roads and rehabilitation of existing ones taking place in Owerri, saying the exercise is a positive development that has contributed in no small measure to the development of the municipality.
On the Fourth Tier of Government, he described it as a wonderful innovation by the present Administration which is aimed at involving those at the grassroots in the affairs of governance of the State, stressing that the Community Government Council, is an initiative that deserves accolades from well meaning Imolites. He said the Fourth Tier Government has come to stay and will contribute immensely to boost rural development in the rural areas.
As he celebrates his one year at the representative of the Municipality, Mere unveiled plans aimed at empowering the youths and women in Owere Nch Ise. He said arrangements have been concluded to establish a Skill Acquisition Centre, where those that have various skills will be trained and empowered.
According to him, a constituency office will be established to attend to the needs of the people and moreso offer a platform for a symbiotic relationship with his constituents.
