No fewer than 200 indigenes of Anara Autonomous Community in Isiala Mbano Council Area of Imo State stormed House of Assembly complex yesterday demanding for immediate sack of the recently appointed CGC officials in the community by the present Rescue Mission Administration in Imo State.
According to the statement made available to Trumpeta, the Commissioner for Community Government and Chieftaincy Affair, Barr. Ugochi Nnanna Okoro allegedly strucked out the original list submitted by the community for the appointment of officials of CGC and went ahead to approve Nze Ogemdi’s purported list.
However, the statement which was signed villages leaders of eight out of mine in the community included Godson Uzoma (Chairman Idem) Reuben Obi (secretary Idem) Kelivin Ekwelem (Chairman- Aguna) George Nwaro (Aguna secretary) Albert Ebirim (Umuduruemeghara Chairman) among others further revealed that among the list approved by the commissioner were people of questionable characters that have been creating uncomfortable atmosphere to commercial motorist flying within Anara and other social ills, thereby issuing quit notice to some of the companies under the umbrella of New Development Committee and Collection of illegal fees and rates from both market women and harassing innocent citizens.
Earlier, the spokesman of the protesters, Chief Alloy Agbarakwe who is the President General of Anara Autonomous Community stressed that it would be a great shame to his community to have people of questionable characters to take over the mantle leadership in which he mentioned some of the newly appointed CGC officials including Mr. George Oguine, Emma Chukwuezie, Eucheria Nwagwu among others as enemies of progress in the community Chief Agbarakwe noted that Oguine’s family has become a hydra-headed monster that has been causing sleepless night to Anara people over many decades now adding that the appointment of George oguine as one of the CGC officials in the area was a plan initiated by his elder sister, Hon. Lady Chioma Ogeke.
He maintained that Nze Ogemdi Agbugba is not eligible to become their traditional ruler as Ezeship stool in the area remains rotatory adding that Anara people have endorsed one Pastor Vincent Ebirim as their recognized traditional ruler.
Meanwhile, their visit to the House of Assembly complex did not earn immediate attention as the house members went on resses. But the seagent at arms promised to take their message to the appropriate authority in due cause.
When contacted the commissioner for CGC and Chieftaincy Affair, Barr. Lady Nnanna Okoro via cell phone gave more facts behind the gist, she said that no community was asked to submit proposal list for the appointment of the CGC Officials adding that the nominee’s list came from Government House precisely from the office of SSG and that she never changed anybody’s name as she does not hail from Anara community so as to get interest on the choice candidate to be appointed in the area.
She further noted that what is necessary is to ensure that those nominee’s hail from the said area, because it is an appointment coming from government.
