IMO LEAGUE ENTERS KNOCK – OUT STAGE.


 

The much awaited ¼ final stage of the biggest league in Imo (Imo league), will be coming up on the 5th of June 2012 as the remaining 8 local government Areas will be slogging out among themselves for the most coveted trophy.

Words emanating from the chairman of the Local Oganizing Committee (LOC) Mr. Raymond Ebede, indicates that an official team of the organizing committee will soon be embark on the distribution of official Jerseys to the 8 teams, namely, Mbaitoli, Isu, Orlu, Ideator South, Owerri municipal, Ahiazu Mbaise, Obowo and Ehime Mbano.

Ebede also took time to explain that they will be an official unveiling of the remaining contestants to his Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha the Chief sponsor of the league at the Dan Anyiam stadium, in a later to be announced date.

The league kicked-off by November last year with all the 27 Local Government Areas participating in a league of four groups. By May 2012, 2 teams 1st and 2nd placed teams qualified from each group to the ¼ final (knock – out) stage which is billed to start on the 5th of June 2012 at the Dan Anyiam stadium.

In the first quarterfinal game, Mbaitoli who placed first in group A will be meeting Ahiazu Mbaise that placed 2nd in group C. In the 2nd ¼ final match Orlu is expected to file out against Ehime while Owerri municipal will tackle Isu LGA. In the final ¼ game Obowo will take on Ideator South.

The winners of these games will all move to the semi final stage of the competition to fight for the final ticket.
