There are indications that the 27 Local Government Transition Committees in Imo State will soon be relief of their duty.
Imo Trumpeta learnt the dissolution of the TC’s is coming on the heels of Governor Rochas Okorocha’s plans to democratize the Local Governments through the introduction of Community Government Council, popularly called Fourth tier of Government.
Time and when the sack of the TC Chairmen will be announced were sketchy as at press time, but a reliable source revealed that soon, the governor will wield his sledge hammer on the TC Chairmen.
“He wants to democratize the local Governments as soon as possible. Having gone a long way to rebuild ailing infrastructure in the state, he wants to focus his attention on democratizing the Local Governments” the source said.
It will be recalled that Governor Okorocha had come under sharp criticisms for illegally sacking the 27 elected council chairmen in the state, an action described as illegal by legal pundits.
The Council Chairmen proceeded to the law Courts to challenge the Governor’s action.
