The Public Relations Officer of IMSU Electoral body, Comrade John, Justice Uchechukwu has stated that the union is poised at conducting a free and credible SUG elections for the 13th Republic.
Comrade Justice stated this in a chat with newsmen last week, while given procedure for the IMSU SUG election, scheduled for next month.
He noted that the electoral body of the union, which is made up of eleven commissions, representing the 11 faculties of the institution has been mandated to educate and lengthen the SUG aspirants on the operations of the election, adding that no form of misconduct could be entertained.
He also pointed out that various orientation programmes would conducted for the aspirants and enjoined them to be part of it.
He further commended the acting V.C of IMSU, Prof. Awuzie Dean, students Affairs, Pro. Okere and Dean Faculty of Law Pro. Nnabue for their assistance and encouragement and praying God to bless them all.
Rape Scare Hits Imo Poly Hostels
Students of Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo Ohaji especially the female folks are now living in fear over new wave of crime reigning with Umuagwo, Mgbirichi and the campus.
In recent times, students residing in hostels near the school promises and all campus lodges have been victims of gunmen attack who end up raping female students occupying the rooms.
Recently, one of the lodges near the back exit of the school was invaded by gunmen who held the inmates hostage. Apart from the laptops, phones and valuable accessories taken away from the helpless victims, some female students were victims of rape. Also off campus female students are scared as a reasonable number have been forced to go through the debasing act.
No night passes in within the vicinity of the school without sorry tales from serial rapists masquerading as robbery gangs.
Some female students who spoke with campus gist said that they are scared about the evil act adding that the new vogue reigning for hostel robbers is rape. First year student who pleaded anonimity said that she has abandoned her hostel at Mgbiriuchi for her sister’s home in Owerri, after she escaped from the jams of the rapists by hair’s breath. “I was in my monthly flow and that was why they freed me from the act”, she added.
