Report Corrupt Traffic Officers – IMSTMA Boss


 

The Chief Executive Officer, Imo State Traffic Management Authority, IMSTMA, Chief Don Linus Onwukaike has urged road users in Imo State, who witness shoddy deals among the officers of the establishment to report such fellow at their office located at Old Secretariat Building, Okigwe Road, Owerri.

 

Speaking to Journalists in his office yesterday the Chief Traffic Officer disclosed that this was to let the masses know that the organization was not ready to condone fraud, and therefore wants to educate the road users on the responsibility of IMSTMA to Imo populace.

 

He said each officer has a name tag and Number and therefore could easily be identified and reported accordingly.

 

Chief Onwukaike who said that Law Number 14 of Imo state backed the establishment of the organization, added that the duty of IMSTMA is to control Traffic, Patrol and apprehend traffic offenders who are charged specific amounts.

 

He lamented that it was unfortunate that some times, people breach the traffic regulations by driving one-way, which in most cases result to fatal accidents, pointing out that no body is above the law, and charged Imo road users to always obey the traffic rules.

 

Chief Onwukaike disclosed that smooth traffic enhances development of Imo State, as both Business men and Civil Servants will reach their places of work in good time for the engine of the state to run smoothly.

 

He advised road users in Imo to adhere to the instruction of parking their vehicles on one side of the run for free flow of traffic, adding that from next month, the Old Stadium Owerri, would be for parking of vehicles, adding that security personnel would be there to guard the vehicles.

 

The IMSTMA Boss appealed to Government, private individuals and Corporate Organizations to come to the aid of the organization, stressing that now that the raining season is approaching, the establishment needs funds to purchase such tools as Raincoats, Rain Boots, Umbrellas, Torches etc for its officers, and said that IMSTMA is rendering a humanitarian service and as such should be helped to serve the populace better.

 

He reiterated the call that any official of IMSTMA caught taking bribe should be reported to their office for proper disciplinary actions.
