This is not the best of times for one of the leading firms with enormous interest in investments and contracts in Imo State, as it will face Imo State House of Assembly today over failure to complete the required number of school blocks in each LGA of the state.
Piqued by the ill manner Roche Group is handling the project and worried by the slow pace of work recorded across the state, the Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt Hon. Ben Uwajumogu brought the matter before the House where it was resolved that the Managing Director of the Roche Group appear before the House during executive session.
ROCHE Group came into the state at the advent of Okorocha administration and took over one of the economic lifeline of the state, Adapalm under privatization programme. It was learnt that Adapalm was leased to Roche for over N3b for a period of 20 years.
Apart from taking over Adapalm, Roche also got the nod to build ultra-modern primary schools in each electoral ward in the state.
After the state-of-the-art building on Wetheral Road Owerri, not much has been recorded across the state as Roche presence has not been noticed.
The company said to be of foreign ownership only succeeded in erecting school structures in places along the road while local and interior places have not had a feel of the school buildings.
These anomalies may have prompted the state lawmakers to summon Roche to the Assembly Complex for questioning today.
