Impeachment Saga Oganihu Owerre Moves Against Lawmakers

Irked by the role of some members of the Imo State House of Assembly representing the various state constituencies in Owerri Senatorial zone, a socio-cultural organization, the Oganihu Owerre has concluded arrangements for a punitive measure against their representatives who partake in the impeachment of the Deputy Governor, Sir Jude Agbaso.

Sir Agbaso who is in the eye of the storm over the alleged N458m bribe saga hails from Emekuku-Owerri North in Owerri zone.

One of the leaders of Oganihu Owerre, Nze James Chinonyerem said in Owerri that the group which comprises young professionals, businessmen and the academia will move against members from  Owerri if they join their colleagues from other zones to remove the Deputy Governor in an unjust manner.

“Currently, we are liaising with other interest groups and bodies in Owerri zone to oppose this injustice. It is not just about Jude Agbaso, but the interest of Owerri zone, a fair play and justice which we stand for. Oganihu Owerre is a mediating organ and we have opened discussion with interest groups on this matter”.

According to a statement issued by the organization’s PRO, Acholonu Basil, “Oganihu has watched with dismay the unfolding drama of allegation of contract scam against Sir Agbaso and the attendant threat of impeachment by the State Assembly. Oganihu Owerre is further worried at the decent into low abyss of infantile theatrics displayed by the show of shame exhibited by a foreign contractor employed by the state government”.

The group went further to state that the scenario paints a well scripted episode “which is part of an orchestration and grand design to perpetuate the degradation of the values of the good people of Owerri zone and Owerre man in particular, despite the role and overwhelming support of the zone in the emergence of the present administration to the seat of power” adding that this development including the relocation of IMSU, forceful acquisition of land of ALVAN, Area K and embarrassment of Senator Chris Anyanwu is “another calculated attempt to embarrass the people of Owerri zone and cow them out of their legitimate quest for the office of the Governor of the state in 2015.

While calling on the legislators of Owerri zone extraction not to allow the zone and their political careers rubbished, Oganihu Owerre queried if the JPross contract went through Tender’s Board? Who approved the Bill of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation? What is the approval limit of the Deputy Governor and who authorized the distribution over a billion naira to the contractor before job completion?

Taking into consideration, the unanswered questions, Oganihu Owerre noted that Agbaso is a victim of high powered political maneuver that will play out as 2015 approaches.
