A group known as the Imo Transparency Network has called on EFCC and ICPC to immediately begin the prosecution of JPROS International Ltd and its management team for offering bribe.
The group national coordinator, Comrade Ohanele Casca said that after critical analysis of the circumstances, surrounding the bribe scandal rocking the Imo State government and the report of the House Special Ad-HOC Committee that investigated the matter, his group came to the conclusion that JPROS has a case to answer. The group noted that corruption is corruption and no person involved must be protected or swept under the carpet no matter whose interest will be hurt. Imo Transparency Network noted that JPROS International Ltd acknowledged that they offered bribe to the Deputy Governor for the purpose of influencing award of road contract in their favour. This singular act is criminal and must be condemned by all well meaning citizens.
The group went further to challenge the governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha to ensure he is clean in the whole saga as he who will go to equity must go with clean hand.
The group also wondered how a contractor who could get a direct approval for contract and approval for 100% payment of same contract from the Chief Executive of a State will then descend so low to bribing the Deputy Governor for more jobs when the powers of the deputy is nothing compared to a governor who can make or mar opportunities. Imo Transparency Network without holding brief for anybody has called on the police, the State Security Service, EFCC and ICPC to get deep into the matter to unravel the mystery especially as some key personnel from the office of the Deputy Governor had been kidnapped or before this time, as it will be injustice for any person to be humiliated under trump up changes or set up.
Comrade Ohanele Casca therefore on behalf of ITN has called on relevant bodies to prosecute both the giver and the taker of bribe as they are all guilty under the law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. “We the members of the Imo Transparency Network hereby call on the EFCC and ICPC and other relevant agencies to immediately prosecute JPROS International Ltd and their Chief Executive Mr. Dinafor offering bribe to a public servant. Failure to do so, we will be compelled to use all legal means to fight for justice and Transparency for Imo people because the money we are taking is the tax payers money. This recent saga goes to put a big question on the present government system of awarding contract without due process”. Comrade Ohanele emphasized.
